I am an Associate Professor and a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC), and have been lecturing at the Electrical Engineering Faculty, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) since the year 2000.  I obtained my PhD and MEng. in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2007 and 2000 respectively.  Before that, I received a full scholarship from Malaysian Public Service Department to do my A-Levels in Roedean School, Brighton, England (1993-1995) and my first degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London (1995-1998).

Since 2014, I am the Director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIRO), UTM. I am also the co-founder and Director of Apt Touch Sdn Bhd a company that design, develop and manufacture fuel injection systems for small engines.

My principal areas of interest are adaptive control, online system identification and application of control to the high-order and nonlinear systems. My current research works are in the area of electronic control unit design for automotive applications; crowd modeling, control and simulation for safer building design; and energy optimization.

I teach various introductory and advanced electrical engineering courses at the faculty including Digital and Analogue Electronics (Year 1 & 2 Bachelor Degree Programme), Modern Control System (Year 4 Bachelor Degree Programme) and Adaptive & Self-Tuning Control (Masters Programme).

I also enjoy being part of various professional organizations. In 2015, I was the Vice Chair of IEEE Control System Society Malaysia Chapter. I am also the founding member and currently the Honorary Secretary of Malaysian Society for Automatic Control Engineers (MACE), which is the International Federation of Automatic Control National Member Organization (IFAC NMO) for Malaysia.

I am married to Dr Ahmad Jais Alimin (Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia) and is a mother of 4.
